Being a busy mom often means I don’t have much time to do my hair, so I usually stick to hairstyles that take less than ten minutes.  Knowing how to do several different types of braids has helped me add variety to my hairstyles.  I’ve gotten several questions and comments about my hair, so today I wanted to do a little round up of my quick and easy hairstyles.  There are also several hairstyle tips at the bottom of this post.

Tips and Tricks for Quick Hairstyles

1. If you have thin hair skip all the crazy supplements and get clip-in hair extensions
2. A small amount of back brushing your hair before doing a hairstyle will make it look much fuller
3. Unwashed, moderately greasy hair is a lot easier to style than freshly washed hair
4. If you are braiding freshly washed hair spray in dry shampoo to the section you are braiding to control fly aways
5. Always pancake your braids to make them look big (this means to massage each section of the braid until the section feels flat but appears big)
6. Spray bobby pins with hair spray before using to help them stay in place.
7. For top knots or fluffy buns, tease hair wildly then smooth with your hands before forming the knot to make it look fluffy.
8. Clear elastics are a girl’s best friend
9. A simple hairstyle can easily be made into a fancy hairstyle by adding an accent braid or twist
10. Leave pieces out of the hairstyle to frame your face and make the style look less formal
